Story
Marzi Alimo
I am an Iranian-Canadian visual artist based in St. Catharines, Ontario, whose multidisciplinary practice spans sculpture and painting. Working primarily in contemporary surrealist ceramic sculpture, I explore human emotion, interpersonal tension, and the complexities of lived experience.
Originally trained as a painter, I earned a Bachelor of Craft and Design from the University of Kashan, Iran, where I studied ceramics, wood, metal, and crafts. My sculptural practice developed through a self-taught approach grounded in anatomy study, observation, experimentation, and a deep interest in the expressive potential of the human figure.
Through evocative figurative forms, I create three-dimensional narratives that explore vulnerability, identity, and emotional experience. My work has been exhibited in Canada and Iran.
